Myxedema coma: support breathing, protect the sequence
Educational use only. Not clinically reviewed72-year-old woman for Myxedema emergency support, treatment sequence, and reassessment rehearsal. About 60 simulated minutes.
What you will practise
- Support ventilation and assess its response, not just oxygen saturation.
- Establish empiric steroid coverage before thyroid hormone replacement.
- Coordinate urgent treatment, supportive care, and investigation in parallel.
- Separate early support from thyroid recovery through fresh reassessment.
- Hand off ongoing organ support, treatment, and unresolved causes.
