Adult asthma exacerbation
Educational use only. Not clinically reviewed41-year-old woman for Emergency assessment and initial response to an adult asthma exacerbation. About 8 simulated minutes.
What you will practise
- Assess severity from speech, work of breathing, oxygenation, and expiratory flow while checking immediate alternative causes.
- Use controlled oxygen for room-air saturation below 92% rather than defaulting to unbounded oxygen.
- Pair a conservative fixed inhaled bronchodilator bundle with early systemic-corticosteroid intent.
- Reassess symptoms, signs, oxygenation, waveform response, and expiratory flow before repeating treatment automatically.
