Spontaneous-breathing trial

Educational use only. Not clinically reviewed

63-year-old woman for Breathing-trial readiness and reassessment. About 8 simulated minutes.

What you will practise

  • Review spontaneous-breathing-trial readiness without requiring RSBI.
  • Record a protocolized spontaneous-breathing trial without increasing inspired oxygen.
  • Integrate work, breathing pattern, oxygenation, circulation, comfort, and trajectory during the trial.
  • Stop the failed trial, restore prior support, and reassess recovery.
  • Review reversible contributors and plan another standardized assessment rather than extubating.
