Unexpected intraoperative hemorrhage

Educational use only. Not clinically reviewed

34-year-old woman for Emergency laparotomy. About 9 simulated minutes.

What you will practise

  • Recognize compensated hemorrhage before the pressure is the only clue.
  • Temporize volume loss while definitive hemorrhage control is obtained.
  • Reduce the induction dose for a patient who is already volume depleted.
  • Protect perfusion while the surgeon controls the bleeding.
