Routine induction of general anaesthesia
Educational use only. Not clinically reviewed42-year-old woman for Laparoscopic cholecystectomy. About 12 simulated minutes.
What you will practise
- Preoxygenate before inducing, and explain what it buys you.
- Wait for the effect site rather than the syringe: recognise that the last dose has not yet fully acted.
- Recognise vasodilatory hypotension after induction and treat the mechanism.
- Establish ventilation before saturation falls.
- Give enough opioid that incision does not provoke a haemodynamic response.
