Perioperative anaphylaxis after antibiotic exposure

Educational use only. Not clinically reviewed

47-year-old woman for Laparoscopic cholecystectomy. About 8 simulated minutes.

What you will practise

  • Recognize abrupt hypotension after antibiotic exposure with possible bronchospasm.
  • Give the modeled adult initial dose of intravenous epinephrine promptly.
  • Begin rapid crystalloid resuscitation for vasodilation and capillary leak.
  • Deliver 100% oxygen and active ventilation while reassessing the observable response.
